MISSING PEOPLE
'LIGHTER' - VOICES OF MISSING
This is a set of five A2 posters designed for the Voices of Missing event that Missing People held in London in May 2026. All contributors are by those impacted by missing.
The following text is the description provided for the event programme:
Something that I have always found helps me cope with my mums disappearance is running. I never know if I’ll have a good or a bad run or what I’ll have to push through mentally and physically. Perhaps in those respects there are some similarities with missing. There’s a place that I run to and I stop to reflect. I look at the clouds, the fields, the trees and the wildlife. Sometimes I’ll see a robin and I like to think that my mum is with me in that moment.
I think of my mum a lot when I run and I like to listen to music. The music varies, from high tempo music to keep me motivated, to songs that inspire determination to overcome difficult moments in my life. There are sad songs but also songs of hope. It can be an emotional experience but at the end of it I always feel that a weight has been lifted, at least for a short time, until I need to run again.
My artwork is a reflection of this experience and the lyrics are from songs that I most connect with. I wanted my designs to be colourful; to show the love, passion, determination and hope that we all have within us to find our loved ones. I know those things aren’t always present but when they are, I think they are full of colour and full of life. As much as missing is incredibly difficult and in many ways a burden that weighs heavy, we can always find some light somewhere.
